Don Shoemaker Pair of Sling Chairs

Don Shoemaker Pair of two 'Sling' Chairs in Cocobolo and Leather.

Set of two Don S. Shoemaker armchairs for Señal Furniture, Mexico from the 1960s. Gorgeous pair of two swinger lounge chairs in tropical Cocobolo wood and black leather with cowhide seats. These sling chairs have a characteristic organic shaped bone frame. The interesting and beautiful shapes are combined with traditional joints like the pegs on the top and bottom. Besides the marvelous design, the structure of the wood is another interesting addition to these 'rocking chairs'. Cocobolo is know for it's expressive and exceptional grain, visible in every detail of these chairs. This set of easy chairs is upholstered in black leather with contrasting cowhide cushions. Both colors combine beautifully to the brown cocobolo frame. On the upholstery, again, the attention to detail of Don Shoemaker is nicely visible. The leather back isn't just mounted with furniture nails, but with decorative leather 'flowers'.
